Pasture Raised Pork -Here at C&C Farms we raise several different breeds of heritage hogs. Heritage hogs are different than commercial hogs or hogs you might find at your local 4H shows. These heritage breeds of pigs that have been raise on pastures for a 100+ years. We continue this tradition of pasture raising hogs. Little history lesson- long ago farmers would ear mark their pigs and in the spring release them into the woodlots to forage on natures bounty. Then in the fall they would have hog gathering days and process the pigs to get their families through the winter months. Our pigs are raised in much the same manner, they are born and raised on pasture, with very little assistance from us. We feed them a non-medicated feed that is free choice, to supplement their natural foraging diet. They also enjoy a large mix of nuts, berries and bugs they might find during their foraging.
Our hogs are processed at an Animal Welfare Certified plant, which is also a USDA certified facility. Animal Welfare is an extremely important part of our operation, we believe that a happy animal makes for better meat and a happier farm in general.
