We are quickly becoming known as the go to farm for pasture raised turkeys. This year we are raising 250 turkeys. we love the challenge of raising these little babies. Turkey poults are extremely fragile the first 4 weeks of their lives. we have to monitor them twice as often as our chicken chicks. It's a delicate process of listening to the noises the poults are making and watching for weaknesses in the babies. Lots of work but the results are always worth the stress and anxiety.

carsandcows.com/place-order.htmlWill not last long, go to our Place order page to send an order. Remember price includes free delivery to your home (Tulsa and OKC)This year we raised the largest flock of turkeys to date. Now I get to enjoy all the pictures that our customers send us of their roasted birds. This is truly one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving. Knowing that we played a huge part of feeding nearly 100 families this year is mind blowing to me. Thank you to all the C&C Farm followers that trusted us again this year to feed their families. We appreciate each of you.
Tonight was the end of the growing season, we completed our annual turkey round up this evening. All turkeys have been safely loaded into the trailer for transport to ANCO processing. This was the largest flock of turkeys we have raised to date. With the increased flock size we learned a lot valuable lessons. Next year we will do lots of things differently in hope for even greater success next year.
It was a pleasure raising your food in 2019, and look forward to meeting again in 2020. Farmer Chris Most of you know I don't normally try to grow plants, I have zero patience for pulling weeds. However this summer I watched a documentary about a gardening system called Back to Eden. The film featured Paul Gautschi, it has inspired me to give it a shot. The whole idea is to look at how forest survive, they don't have anyone pulling weeds or fertilizing them, but they continue to grow for thousands of years. We will see how the system works under my management. To get started I recruited the help of the City of Tulsa, the City offers free wood chips 7 days a week. So now with three truck loads, we are officially under way. Our bed will be 8 feet x 30 feet.
Got to see a beautiful sunset this evening when I went to milk the cows. I love the Fall evenings, nice to wear a hoodie while doing chores.
This is only the second day that the Jersey calf has been allowed in the pasture with the Guernsey milk cow. She followed her all the way to the milk barn. I think the Jersey is picking up the routine rather well.
I always love when customers post pictures of the meat we sold them. We have a limited about of beef each year, but some customers are willing to wait as long as it takes to get beef. Looks like he did an awesome job grilling up these T-Bones.
So as you read last week, Grant wanted to grow some trees from seeds. We made homemade planters, so this weekend Grant wanted to paint the planters. He is so creative and made the planters look great. Hopefully after a 30 day germination period we will have some baby trees popping up.
